Green peppers: 6
Ground beef: 1 lb
Dried onion flakes: 1 tbsp (use one small or a half of a large onion)
Garlic clove: 1 (minced)
Diced green tomatoes with green chilis: 2 can
Minute rice: 1/2 cup (if using regular rice, cook first)
Italian seasoning: 1/2 tbsp
Salt: 1/2 tsp
Pepper: 1/2 tsp
Worcestershire sauce: 1 tbsp
Tomato sauce: 1 can (optional)
Shredded cheese: 1/2 cup
Spicy Green Peppers Stuffed: Method
At first, preheat the oven to 380 degrees. Now, cut the tops of the peppers and strip the seeds out. Now, you need to boil the bottoms of the peppers. Take a small bowl and bring water to boil in it. Then, boil the peppers at least for 4-5 minutes. After boiling, let the peppers drain on a paper towel. This will make them dry and prepare them for further preparation. You can cut or chop the top of the peppers to use them in the stuff. Otherwise, discard them.
Take a medium-sized skillet. Heat oil in it and add the ground beef. On medium heat, cook the meat for 2-3 minutes. Now, add the dried onion and chopped peppers. Cook for another3-4 minutes or until the color turns to brown from pink. Drain excess water if any. You can use ground sirloin at this point in time to enhance the taste of the beef. After this, add garlic, salt, ground pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Keep stirring it and cook for another 6-7 minutes. Then, add the rice and diced tomatoes. Let the preparation simmer for at least 5 minutes. This will soften the rice.
Now, it’s time to stuff the pepper with this delicious mixture. Put 1/2 cup of water in the bottom of a wide pan. Then, stuff the peppers with the prepared mixture. You can top it with the tomato sauce if you wish. Cover this with a foil and bake for 30 minutes. Once the peppers are cooked, uncover it and sprinkle shredded cheese on top. Then, bake uncovered for another 7-8 minutes. Take it out and give a standing time of 5 minutes before serving.
